The Job Market

Barbers held about 66,500 jobs in 2019 with 70 percent self employed.  In a May 2019 report of the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, Maryland was the top paying state for the Barbering occupation.  Employment of barbers is projected to increase by 7 percent from 2019 to 2029.  The need for barbers will stem primarily from an increasing population, which will lead to greater demand for basic hair care services.

Rolling Admissions

Bladensburg Barber School has rolling admissions for its Barbering program.  New classes begin each month.  The flexibility in admissions helps meet the varying scheduling needs of our diverse population of students. The School offers full-time and part-time training courses that can be completed in 8 and 12 months.

State License Preparation

Bladensburg Barber School’s comprehensive Barber training program prepares students for licensing by the Maryland State Board of Barbers. Upon successful completion of the Barbering program, students receive a Certificate of Completion and the application to begin the State Board Examination process.
