Welcome to Mid-Continent Railway Museum

Mid-Continent is an outdoor living history museum and operating railroad recreating, preserving, and interpreting the small town/shortline way of life from the “Golden Age of Railroading.”


Summer Schedule

Mid-Continent is gearing up for another operating season! We’re excited to welcome visitors from May 11th to October 20th on weekends, and from June 11th to September 2nd on weekdays (except Mondays). Our grounds will be accessible from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM on days we are open. All train rides and events are available to be booked online via our website!

Introducing New Flyer-Style Trains!

By popular demand, we have created 3 brand new “Flyer-style” train rides inspired by our Holiday Flyer! Our new “Flyer-style” trains feature beverages and/or light snacks served aboard the 1915-era coach cars during a 7-mile, 1-hour roundtrip ride. They will be taking place on 3 different days over the course of 2024.

New Flyer Trains Offered:

  • The Freedom Flyer on Saturday, July 6th, 2024 @ 5:00 PM: Popcorn and fruit punch will be served on the train. Learn more…

Restoration Begins of Oldest Surviving Electro-Motive Locomotive

Restoration work on the Great Northern #2313 gasoline-electric motor car (a.k.a. Montana Western #31) has begun. Learn more

Mid-Continent Acquires Supply of Rail for Infrastructure Upgrade

Mid-Continent has acquired 2.9 miles of relay rail as part of its Phase 2 Rail Relay Project. This will be used to replace the aging, worn rails found along Mid-Continent’s line. Your help is needed to bring the newly purchased rail to Mid-Continent and install it. Learn more and make a donation today.
