On Saturday, 6 April 2024, Air Heritage Aviation Museum President Tom Gargaro (R) welcomed Thomas Hofman (L) who is one of our International Members during his visit to the museum. Thomas flew to Pittsburgh from his home in Kloten, Switzerland for a single reason; he wanted to see our Fairchild C-123 Provider "Thunder Pig" in person. Thomas works for Swiss International Airlines as a Flight Attendant and Cabin Chief. His hobby is traveling the world to see historical aircraft and he is an avid supporter of many of the aviation museums in the United States and Europe. Thank you, Thomas, for visiting us and for being a valuable member of Air Heritage Aviation Museum. We look forward to your next visit! ... See MoreSee Less

We would like to thank Linda Kelly for generously donating this 1/4 model of a Stinson SR10 aircraft that was made by her grandfather. It was built from plans with full size dimensions and from photos from the Smithsonian museum. This model hung in the Clearview Credit Union in Moon. This type of aircraft was used for the first airmail service in our area. Thank you to our dedicated volunteers for bringing her to Air Heritage Aviation Museum! ... See MoreSee Less

My grandfather, Ray Garcia, was one of the original 49ers that was a flight mechanic on the SR10 for All American. He worked the boom in the back of the plane that picked up the mail. He was also the one to sort the mail between pickup stops. I have lots of memorabilia from All American including one of the original Airmail Pickup maps that hung in the Latrobe airport as well as a pickup hook from the Stinson SR10 and the Beech18. I have so many memories of stories that my grandfather told me about flying the airmail pickup including two forced landings. So happy to see this model donated to the Air Heritage Museum!

My mother’s first job was tracking and scheduling maintenance on the Stinsons at All American Aviation. Beautiful airplane.

What is that yellow railing that goes down the leading edge of the main gear? Is it for protecting against stone strikes?
