If you appreciate recycling and upcycling, you’ll love the hand-made touches at Driftwood Wilderness Lodge. The lodge was built by hand by Nick and DWL volunteers – and all the dimensional lumber used for the buildings were salvaged from the sea and milled onsite.  We offer a once in a lifetime Kodiak vacation experience and invite you come join us at out Kodiak fishing lodge that also offers wildlife viewing tours that will take you around Kodiak Island.

CAPTAIN’S LOG

Only 31, but I’ve lived Full time in Alaska for almost 10 years; worked as a fishing guide or assistant fishing guide for more than 10 years.  I have now been in Larsen Bay for 7 seasons, and have exclusive knowledge on where the halibut and salmon are biting.  If you’re looking for an amazing Kodiak fishing charter, you’ve found the right company.  Kodiak salmon fishing & Kodiak halibut fishing are action-packed during the summer months.

LARSEN BAY, ALASKA

Driftwood Wilderness Lodge is located on a secluded lagoon with breathtaking views of Uyak Bay, which is 60 miles southwest from the town of Kodiak. The small village of Larsen Bay is very close to our Kodiak Island fishing lodge and is home to about 100 year around residents.  Travel Alaska mentioned this area for having some of the best fishing grounds in the Kodiak Archipelago. During the summer months, when the local cannery is open for business, the population of Larsen Bay jumps to 300, and the local store is open for business. They have all the personal items you may wish for and ice cream!

Larsen Bay is a truly amazing place that’s surrounded by Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge, a whopping 2,812 square mile preserve that engulfs most of Kodiak Island. The refuge features rugged mountains highlighted by alpine meadows, abundant wetlands, and long-lasting spruce forests. Kodiak Island wildlife viewing is endless and we have plenty of Kodiak Brown Bears and hundreds of different species that call this island home.  Kodiak Island also is home to 600 breeding pairs of bald eagles and on the water our guests will spot seals, sea lions, sea otters, porpoises, puffins, and whales.

KODIAK FISHING

Kodiak fishing charters that target salmon & halibut are the main appeal for the majority of the guests that come to the Driftwood Wilderness Lodge.  Our Kodiak fishing lodge features protected bays and inlets that are close to the village.  Please give us a call if you’re looking to go fishing for salmon, halibut, lingcod, and rockfish. DWL is a short boat ride away from stream fishing for salmon, steelhead, and Dolly Varden. Guests also enjoy trips to the Karluk River, which is world famous for its sockeye salmon and king salmon runs during the summer months.

Please give us a call to book with our Kodiak Island fishing lodge.
