The area is also home to diverse and abundant wildlife: moose and bears are found in abundance on land while sea otters, eagles, harbor seals, and seabirds of all sorts can be seen dotting the surface of the bay. So come fish with us and cast one look at the deep blue waves of Cook Inlet and Halibut Cove that glitter like thousands of perfect sapphires! Guests at Athabasca Fishing Lodges enjoy a caliber of fishing that is second to none. The expectations of the most discriminating angler are met every day with challenges and experiences that you’ll remember for years to come. With the expertise of the locals, Athabasca Fishing Lodges provides guides with over one-thousand years of passed-down knowledge. Their mastery in hunting, trapping, and fishing on the lake and surrounding areas ensures that every guest has the most memorable experience. We fish for the best - in Northern Pike, where over 20 lbs. are common. The lodge record and provincial record is 55 inches. Our guests report catching more pike than in past years, with many 50 inches and higher.  Lake Trout always provide a challenge. But, with our expertise it’s not a problem! In these cold waters, they grow to enormous sizes, with 30 pounders and even 50 pounders! A new provincial record measuring 51 inches in length and with a 36-inch girth was calculated to be 82-83 pounds. Arctic Grayling, the “sailfish of the north” offer a lively diversion from the “tackle busting” tactics of the Pike and Lake Trout. Try catching Grayling on ultra-light spinning gear or a fly rod. Lodge record is a 22-inch Grayling. Walleye are favorites with most guests, and are abundant in the river outlets and right in front of the lodge. Walleye average about 2-5 pounds, and our guests report catching walleye weighing up to 7.5 pounds. Athabasca Fishing Lodge is the premier full-service lodge in Otherside Bay at the mouth of the Otherside River that empties into vast Lake Athabasca. The lodge is on the south side of the Lake, about a 20-minute ride in our float plane from Stony Rapids° See maps on Getting There page https://athabascafishing.com/the-lodge/how-to-get-here/ . Heavens Gate Charters is high a quality fishing charter company of Homer, Alaska. Halibut is our primary targeted species, but most of our trips include a full day of fishing for halibut plus additional species. We have one of the highest success rates for catching king salmon in the Homer charter fleet. Captain Seth Ellis has over 14 years of experience guiding fishing charters in the Cook Inlet, Kachemak Bay and surrounding waters. Our boat The Dream Catcher II holds 6 fishermen plus a captain and deckhand, has individual seating for 6 guests, an enclosed lavatory and a heated cabin for the comfort of your full day charter. In Homer Alaska is “halibut fishing capital of the world!” The ecosystem in South-Central Alaska is a perfect environment for fish to thrive. Our goal is to get the halibut from the ocean to your dinner plate! During the halibut portion of your charter, we will use the technique of bottom-fishing. HGC will provide all the necessary fishing tackle and bait for your trip. We will focus a large portion of the day on halibut. It is uncommon that we don’t catch our daily halibut limit for each angler. We also, love salmon fishing!! There is nothing more exciting than a King Salmon strike and the ensuing fight. While our local rivers are facing new regulations, the kings in the ocean are plentiful. Our salmon harvest rate at HGC is among the highest in the charter fleet. HGC will provide all gear, tackle and bait for salmon trolling. The captain and deckhand will set up the deck, assign you a rod and coach while you reel in your salmon. No matter how many salmon we catch during the season, it is always extra special to get a King on the boat and a photo in your phone. Our Eco-tours are gaining popularity in Alaska. We will be offering eco-tours every Wednesday for the duration of the Summer and Tuesdays after June 20th. We will be looking for whales, sea otters, birds and other Alaskan wildlife. We will check out Halibut Cove, Jakolof Bay, and stop for a picnic in Seldovia for either a packed lunch or an opportunity to dine at the local restaurant. On clear days we will be able to see the local volcanoes. Augustine, Illiamna and Redoubt are all active and will produce steam at their peak year-round. If there is anything specific you want to do while on our eco-tour, we can be flexible with our itinerary. Bring your camera! Heaven Gate Charters has something for everyone!  Whether you’re an experienced fisherman or inexperienced our experienced guides will take care of everything! The fish are jumping in Homer and we’re catching them so come and enjoy a unforgettable experience! https://www.heavensgatecharters.com/ Easy to find:  https://www.heavensgatecharters.com/directions/contact
